Abstract

This research aimed to determine the relationship between social anxiety and fear of missing out (FoMO) in adults from Asunción and the Central Department. The study employed a quantitative approach, a non-experimental design, a descriptive level, and a cross-sectional approach. Participants included 121 adults aged 18 to 67 years (M = 33.00; SD = 10.27). A non-probabilistic convenience sampling method was used. The instruments used were the Short Form Social Phobia and Anxiety Inventory (SPAI-B), adapted for the Argentine population, and the Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMOs), validated in the Argentine context. The results showed a statistically significant, positive, and moderate correlation between the two variables (Rho = 0.646; p < .001). No differences were observed according to sex, although younger participants presented higher levels of the variables studied. It is concluded that a significant relationship exists between social anxiety and FoMO in the analyzed sample.
