Analysis of the energy sector of Paraguay. Energy balance in usable energy -2011

This paper focuses on the analysis of the Paraguayan energy sector based on the first Energy Balance Study in Useful Energy of Paraguay, prepared through a joint project among three institutions: Itaipu Binacional, the Itaipu - Paraguay Technological Park Foundation and Bariloche Foundation - Argentina, taking 2011 as base study year. The analysis examines the situation of the Paraguayan energy sector in terms of hydroelectric energy and other components of the Paraguayan Energy Matrix. The study compares different sectors of energy consumption: Residential, Industrial, Transport, Agricultural and Forestry, as well as Commercial, Services and Public Sector. This work also presents initiatives in energy efficiency that have been implemented in some sectors, highlighting measures that are expected to be implemented to encourage the rational use of energy in all its sources. Finally, the work summarizes as a complement, the main results of the 2013 update of the Energy Balance in Useful Energy used for the elaboration of the National Energy Forecast, basis for the formulation of the Paraguayan Energy Policy 2040
